The Local Food Switchboard is moving Maine towards a coordinated and collaborative local food system that fosters the well-being of people, planet, and communities
The web platform is backed by support from Switchboard Operators (real people available by email, phone, text, or during regular virtual “office hours”). Learn more about the Switchboard.
Maine has incredible food producers and infrastructure but no central place to connect the dots. “Maine’s agricultural producers have more choices and more opportunities than before, but realizing their full potential—especially in wholesale and institutional markets—depends on overcoming infrastructure, scale, and pricing barriers. The land and the markets exist; now it’s about building the systems to connect them.”
“Collaboration is essential, and, like, when I think about a vision of, like, a food system that's working, it's one where everybody has enough food, shelter, rest, and human rights.”
“I think that making sure that kind of everybody along the supply chain is educated about what their options are so they can find the best one that best aligns with their business goals.”
